Daily Mindfulness Based Yoga classes that will allow you to raise your awareness and transform your asana practice. Carefully thought out meditations will help you to enhance your perspective and experience the benefits of mindfulness in day to day life.  A writing workshop will be introduced at the beginning of the retreat that will complement the retreat as a whole. The primary aim is of self-reflection and development of the observer within.

Our Dharamshala Yoga Retreat has the perfect mix of stillness, grounding, and opportunity to develop the perspective of the observer within. We work hard to offer a supportive and encouraging atmosphere, and welcome people who have not tried such retreats in the past, as well as those with more experience to join us.

Dharamshala and Buddhism


Shanti Retreat will take place amongst the mountains of  northern India. Dharamshala is currently the home for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and it is from here that His Holiness started to spread the word for the Tibetan cause and Buddhism. The Tibetan people here are encouraged to find peace, hope, and non-violence within themselves despite the continual force applied and acting against them. Although our retreat is not religion based, this background forms the basis of this retreat.

The venue we have chosen complements the spirit of the retreat as a whole. A underlying theme is simply the act of being, and we feel that connection to the natural environment and low stimulation is more important for the aims of this particular retreat than a feeling of luxury – so people who would prefer that feeling of treating themselves may be more interested in our Thailand or Bali Retreat.

There are many quiet spots for mindful contemplation during your free time. Enjoy a massage or Ayurvedic treatments to complement your experience with us. There are many stunning hiking opportunities should you wish to take advantage of the beautiful environment that is so within reach. We will be happy to point you in the right direction!


The River Tree Bali Yoga Retreat Yoga Dance Sound Meditation Schedule

Day 1: Arrival, Introductions plus Writing Workshop, and Rest.
Day 2: Morning Meditation and Yoga, Silent Breakfast, Mindfulness Meditation
Day 3: Morning Meditation and Yoga, Silent Breakfast, Personal Time, Meditation
Day 4: Morning Meditation and Yoga, Silent Breakfast, Mindful Restorative Yoga
Day 5: Morning Meditation and Yoga, Silent Breakfast, Personal Time, Meditation
Day 6: Morning Meditation and Yoga, Silent Breakfast, Mindful Movement
Day 7: Farewells Some additional workshops to encourage self reflection will also be included.

The Personal Time is free time intended for personal practice, meditation, study or simply relaxation. Jayna is also a qualified and experienced counsellor, and is happy to make some time available for one-to-one sessions during the down-time, if you feel you have some things you want to work through with a professional.

The River Tree Bali Yoga Retreat Yoga Dance Sound Meditation Teacher Jayna Halai
Jayna has been practicing yoga for 20 years . She enjoys incorporating techniques from different schools of yoga in order to meet the varying needs of students and to keep her classes creative, fresh and interesting. She also shares and develops her experiences through expressive workshops. Jayna is also a fully qualified counsellor with wide experience in this field. She is happy to offer her support to students as a counsellor during retreats.She finds satisfaction in offering various ways to encourage people to explore themselves, and in their own unique way to find a path to being true and free.

There are two rates:

  • Single Occupancy: £375/person

  • Twin/Double – Shared Occupancy: £300/ person

The River Tree endeavors to support people who would otherwise be unable to afford the benefits of such programmes, so 50% of the profits from this retreat will go towards offering low-cost places to such people.

  • Delicious meals 3 times a day (vegetarian as standard, but vegan diets and other requests such as gluten free can be catered for)

It is important for us that cost does not limit anyone from attending the retreat. If you feel you may be eligible for our discounted rate please email us and tell us why. Please however understand that this is at our discretion, and we hope you appreciate that we can only put aside very limited spaces for this option.

Deposit due upon booking: £100. Full payment is due 6 weeks before the start of the retreat.

Places on this retreat are limited to ensure that participants receive maximum attention throughout the week. We feel that 12 is the right number for a healthy atmosphere and attentive teaching.
